Anniversary year 2026 - 125 Years CVB
Chorverband Berlin is celebrating its 125th anniversary – and we want to celebrate this TOGETHER.
Together with visitors from choirs all over the world we want to celebrate this anniversary not for a day, a week or even a month – but for the whole year of 2026. We are celebrating us, our history, our choirs and ensembles, choir music in itself and where it got us throughout the years.
We want to take a look back on the association’s history, are looking forward to seeing everyone – from children’s to senior’s choir on stage, want to sing along with oratorio choirs, want to dance, laugh and have fun together, want to celebrate our actual anniversary in June together and even set a new world record.
It is set to be a year with and for the choirs, first highlights cast their shadows before. As such we want to dedicate the 12 months to the 12 precincts of Berlin – one each month. We want to celebrate our choral festival – the #dabei open air – together, want to create unifying moments for young and old and are inviting everybody on stage. Choirs from elsewhere are invited as much as those from just around the corner. Let us all – very much in the sense of the word – join in together.

2026 offers something for EVERYONE. No matter your age, no matter where you are from, if singing in a choir or rather sitting in the audience listening – our anniversary year is creating moments for everyone of you. Be #there with us, join in singing, listen in and become a part of it with all your senses. 2026 is going to be the full package. For the choirs! For Berlin! For EVERYONE!
Below some highlights of the year coming up are listed. However – this is not everything. Stop by every once in a while and check our website for updates!
Retrospective - Looking back
2026 will be our moment looking back at the Chorverband’s colourful past. The focus will be on the time of National Socialism as well on the time around the fall of the Berlin wall.
Moreover, we want to get an overview of the evolution of Berlin’s various choral scene. The accounting for the past is supported by the department of musicology at Berlin’s Universität der Künste.
Sunday concerts - Focus: anniversary
Our well-known and -liked concert series “Sonntagskonzertreihe“ will also be back in the Kammermusiksaal in 2026. In the coming year the Chorverband is asking choirs to create a programme that relates to the topic of 125 years of Chorverband Berlin in some way.
As always, three choirs with one set programme can apply for participating in a concert together.
#125StundenChor - our world record
Let us sing now – we can sleep later!
From 21st through 26th September 2026 we want to set a new world record together with choirs from Berlin and the whole world. And you can become a part of it!
Starting March 17th this year, choirs can register for a time slot in our attempt at the world record. Better register now – and save your preferred time slot just for you and your choir! We are looking forward to 5 days and 5 hours of choral singing!
For You and with You - Our #dabei Open Air
Come celebrate our #dabei open air with us on 3rd and 4th July 2026 – a festival from, for and with the choirs. Our already well known festival is going for yet another round in 2026. Be looking forward to well known headliners from near and far – and also YOU ALL singing there on stage.

SupporTING the Chorverband's Anniversary? Easily Done!
The cuts to Berlin’s cultural budgets and fundings have been a topic in the press more than once within the last weeks. We are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the city’s cultural institutions and artists.
However, we still want to celebrate next year to the fullest without making cuts to our programme. Our goal is to have all corners of Berlin up and singing!
